Von Delius flies again, clinching Tripoli M-class record

ImageWORLD WIDE WEB — Curt von Delius, not to be denied, flew his carbon fiber flyweight 75mm minimum diameter rocket again August 1st at Black Rock's Aeronaut launch, clinching the Tripoli's M-class altitude record with a GPS-verified altitude of 37,762 feet, according to Erik Gates, TRA Ad Hoc Records Chair.

Alpha Hybrids tests conceptual aerospike hybrid motor

ImageFORT COLLINS, Colorado USA — Edward Wranosky of Alpha Hybrids has posted photos and video of his recent test firings of his conceptual integration of an aerospike nozzle on one of his experimental hybrid rocket motors. Wranosky stated he saw an increase of about 2.5% on a non-optimized version of the motor.

Popular UK Blue Peter TV show featured hybrid rocket

ImageKINGUSSIE, Highland UK — The group of UK rocketeers responsible for the Top Gear Reliant Robin space shuttle launch in 2007 made another launch this summer for a BBC TV's kid's television show better known for making models from empty dish washing soap bottles and adhesive-backed vinyl called Blue Peter.

Vermont hobbyist featured on local newspaper website

ImageBURLINGTON, Vermont USA — Kevin O'Classen, of Goshen, Vermont, was featured this weekend on the Burlington Free Press' website flying his high powered rocket.  The scratch-built 60 pound rocket flew on a Contrail L2525 and as far as O'Classen knows, represents the largest hobby rocket flown in the state.
