"The entire field of boost-gliders (B/G) is rapidly growing into a distant and separate part of model rocketry. More and more modelers are devoting all their time to these little winged beasties."  This was the opening sentence in the article "Rocket Trails" by G. Harry Stine from the American Modeler magazine, July-August 1963.  The article was about boost-gliders and the scare of basement bombers in the new hobby of model rocketry.

"The 'space age' arrived in 1957 when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik I.  Since that time, the number of model rocketeers has increase constantly. So, model rocketry usually is thought of as a space-age hobby." So goes one of the opening paragraphs in the 4-H Aerospace Program booklet "Model Rocketry" from 1971. The article covers the origins of the hobby and introduces the reader to construction techniques, finishing, how model rocket engines work and the importance of safety.
