AUGUSTA, Georgia USA -- Due to a family emergency, Earl Cagle Owner of Point 39 Productions, found it necessary to leave LDRS-21 the morning of Day One to return home to Augusta, GA. As a result, Earl missed his first LDRS in 11 years and was not able to cover the event for his normal annual video production.
"After I got the emergency call and was packing to leave the field, a number of folks stopped by and said they would cover what they could for me for possible use in a video. The outpouring of support as I packed to leave the field that morning was very touching indeed and is just another great reflection of the super people involved in our hobby", Earl said. Though still a guarded situation, the family emergency is lifting and improving.
As a result, Earl has decided to try a different angle for this year's video. Based on the wide-spread availability of high quality consumer cameras these days (DV, Hi-8), many, many sources of footage of the event will probably exist, from the casual shots of the 'family' camp and prep activities, through more in-depth coverage of various projects and range 'happenings'. ALL sources may contain very interesting, entertaining, and educational footage.
If successful, the project will reflect the event from the 'members' perspective, and will be, in a very literal sense, a production reflecting more angles and input than any ever assembled before. And it is not necessary that all footage be shot at LDRS-21 itself. For example, 'progress' footage that was shot at home over a series of weeks or months for a large or unusual project would be a great submission. Also, if you have footage of your big project at LDRS and want to ADD some footage now of yourself 'on-camera' talking about the project and how it performed at LDRS, record that on-camera material now (standing in your backyard, workshop, etc.) and submit that too. All submitters will be properly and fully credited in the final production, and will receive a free copy of the production as well as a free copy of any previously issued video (their choice). The video will be released in DVD as well as standard VHS, S-VHS, Hi-8, and 8mm.
So, if you attended LDRS-21 and think you have some footage to share, Earl would really like to hear from you. He can be reached via email at
