WORLD WIDE WEB — The United Kingdom Rocketry Association (UKRA) has released their new web site, aimed at increasing the functionality available to their members while reducing the management requirements normally associated with large, dynamic web sites.
The UKRA officers settled on an open-source Content Management System (CMS) authored by Drupal. CMS systems have revolutionized the management problems normally associated with web sites which provide online communities with dynamic content, reducing the maintenance involved in keeping new content served up to visitors.
As UKRA members send in their renewals, they will receive a username and password to access the extra members-only features, including discussion forums, chat box, member polls and the ability to submit their own events and articles. The site has a vendor announcement discussion area in the forums, and since many UK flyers buy products from other countries, UKRA would like to offer international vendors a chance to participate. Any vendor or manufacturer can apply to get a vendor account on the site. Just use the "Contact Form" and send them details of your business along with a contact email address. Vendor's will be able to use their account to use the forums, the chat box as well as be able to submit articles (Articles should not just be general announcements, this is what the forum space for). The articles will be moderated so UKRA can advise on the correct format. Website: http://www.ukra.org.uk
