WORLD WIDE WEB — The NEPRA Section, under Drake (Doc) Damerau, has organized a very large East-Coast NAR national event for NAR and TRA rocketeers, the NAR annual National Sport Launch. It is being held May 24-26 near Scranton, PA. NEPRA has a large site, quality lodging, and a strong organization in place with lots of flying pads.
Because the NSL dates (May 24-26) correspond to the dates that the new BATFE regulations take effect, many of the people who would normally attend seem to be holding back. Advance registration is good (well over 100), but below what a quality high- power-capable NAR national event typically has at this point.
Trip Barber, NAR Vice President and National Events Committee Chair, says "This is a good event to go to — both to fly on a first-rate site, and to show that we as a hobby and organization are not going to be made to go away by irrational over-regulation by BATFE. Your attendance and participation at this event makes that statement. If the event is small despite its quality, it makes the opposite statement — that we are being deterred from our hobby. Even if you only fly G motors and below, come on down to NSL!"
