LUCERNE VALLEY, California, USA -- RocStock 8 saw the first public launch of a new ALL CARBON FIBER kit from a new manufacturer - Shadow Composites, Inc.
The first kit's spec's are:
SHADOW COMPOSITES RAVEN - Specially manufactured filament wound 40mm (yes,40!) All Carbon airframe
- All Carbon pre-preg nosecone
- All Carbon pre-preg fins (3)
- Special All Carbon pre-preg fin fillet and alignment/attatchment units
- Ceramic 2300 degree engine/airframe insulation
- ROCKETMAN recovery chute
- Kevlar recovery cordage
- Nomex Ejection Heat Shield
- All Carbon Altimeter Bay and Drogue Compartment, removeable carbon accelerometer mounting board
- Carbon Fiber 3/8" Launch Lugs (or configure for rails or towers)
- Specially formulated Ultra High Temp Adhesive kit for fins and lugs
- 38mm AEROPACK Quick-Change motor retention
- 50" overall length (64" for dual deployment configuration)
- Finished airframe weight - LESS THAN 1.5 POUNDS!
The demonstration model was launched at RocStock a total of 5 times, with motors ranging from I211 to J350, with PERFECT recovery every time. Needless to say, every flight was beyond human vision! Also seen was one J350 launch of the prototype SHADOW COMPOSITES BLACKHAWK - the 54mm version! A 75mm version is also planned. These kits are intended for the rocketeer who wants the ultimate in speed, altitude, and technical sophistication. All kits are completely engineered as total composite systems, with specially compatible adhesives supplied with the kit to guarantee a rugged, light launch vehicle that will survive the ultimate propulsion available.
