To Members of the Hobby Rocketry Community:
AeroTech would like to briefly expand its announcement of last Friday, November 13th, to address the regulatory status of AeroTech's Easy Access™ line of 29mm and 38mm high power Reloadable Motor System (RMS) rocket motor reloading kits.
In a conversation held today between AeroTech and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (ATF) representative Jim Zammillo, Mr. Zammillo emphasized that AeroTech's Easy Access RMS reload kits (those utilizing one or more propellant modules not exceeding 62.5 grams of propellant each) will remain exempt from federal explosives regulations for the immediate future. That Easy Access™ remains unregulated is another benefit of new "fast track" rulemaking which the ATF is now creating in an effort to return UN0349, UN0351, and UN0471 to the list of exempted UN numbers.
As with single-use 'G' class motors, the hobby rocket enthusiast will for the immediate future be able to buy, store and fly AeroTech Easy Access™ reload kits in the manner to which he or she is accustomed.
AeroTech again wishes to remind everyone that the ATF is planning to propose a comprehensive set of hobby rocket regulations for public comment sometime early in 1999 and that AeroTech will continue to work towards a regulatory environment acceptable to the ATF, AeroTech and the hobby rocketry community.
