NEW YORK, New York USA — Coverage of the 16th World Spacemodeling Championships, NASA's Back-to-the-Moon plans, and an in-depth interview with Semroc founder Carl McLawhorn highlight the latest issue of LAUNCH Magazine.

The 90-page January/February issue also includes an exclusive inside look at a Soyuz launch from veteran space writer James Oberg, along with a history of model rocketry boost gliders, coverage of the ROCstock XXIV launch in California, and a look back at the X Prize Cup exposition in New Mexico.

"I think this issue underscores our commitment to covering a broad range of rocketry topics in a very in-depth way," says editor Mark Mayfield.

Other articles include: The upcoming "Astronaut Farmer" film from Warner Brothers, a look at space art from the world of science fiction, coverage of the model rocketry offerings at Chicago's iHobby show and instructions on how to build a club launch rack.

"If I had to choose one story that seems to stand out, it would be Bill Stine's incredible journal from the World Spacemodeling Championships in Baikonur, Kazakhstan, along with the photos from Bill and Russian photographers," says Mayfield. "It makes you wish you had been there."

Mayfield also said the article on a Soyuz launch from James Oberg underscores the magazine's commitment to using some of the nation's best space writers, in addition to many different experts in hobby rocketry.

The issue is the third one from LAUNCH, a new bi-monthly devoted to space flight and hobby rocketry. It is now available by subscription (http://www.launchmagonline.com) or at many Barnes & Noble and Hastings bookstores, along with dozens of hobby shops and select Borders stores.

The next issue, March/April, is due out in mid to late February. Scheduled coverage includes interviews with astronauts who flew atop the Saturn 1B (along with a special Semroc Saturn 1B construction article), a story on composite motor legend Irv Wait, an interview with rocket maker Jim Flis and a history of Vashon rockets.

Any retailers wishing to offer LAUNCH in their stores should contact Eric Holton at 239-949-4450, extension 6930.

LAUNCH Magazine just keeps getting better and better and better. This magazine is what other hobby magazines should aspire to be: very pleasing layout, excellent use of white space, professional graphical work, good use of color, etc. You just get the impression that you are reading the New Yorker or some other high class magazine and not a hobby magazine. Hat's off to Mark and crew.
