ImageIRVING, Texas USA — The Squirrel Works' Don Magness has been hinting lately about a new kit to be released at the end of Q1 2007.  Don has been busy flight testing their newest addition: the London Police Box.  A police box is a telephone booth-style kiosk containing a telephone that is connected directly to the local police.

The funky new kit is a flying version of the police call box, built of dozens and dozens of pieces of laser-cut balsa.  The prototypes have been painted to reflect the blue British version, although other paint schemes are available to the modeler, such as the red ones of Scotland.

The kit will come with two door handles and a lamp on top consisting of a section of clear rigid tube to allow those that wish to design a flashing LED circut and install it into the hollow top.  Only one Estes motor will be recommended: the D12-3. Magness tested some single-use composite E motors but destroyed two test vehicles in the process due to CATOs.

The Squirrel Works has sent the kit templates off to their laser cutter to have some test shots made, and Don still has to write the majority of the instructions, but they hope to have the kit available by the end of the first quarter.

The final version of the kit will have 101-105 parts and 53 decals. It has twelve 4"x8" and two 4"x12" sheets of laser-cut balsa as well as two 24" chutes.

A retail price is currently not finalized.
