MERRIMACK, New Hampshire USA — Within days of their 1st anniversary on September 16th, FlisKits has announced an exciting project that was the brainchild of two of their customers (Jason Toft and Eugenio Cebollero, both of Florida).
The Tour de Deuce™ entails a nation-wide trip for a pair of FlisKits' Deuce's Wild!™ kits that were built by Jason and Eugenio. These two kits will follow a schedule of stops in all 50 states, stopping long enough for a launch, some photos then on to the next state. Beginning in October 2003, in Florida where the idea was formulated, these two rockets are expected to be on the move for the next 2-3 years, ending in New Hampshire, home of FlisKits.
The idea behind the Tour de Deuce is simple and not completely unique but for the rocket involved and the drive behind the effort. The Deuce's Wild! is a unique 2-engine cluster model with canted motors which produces a stunning inverted "V" smoke trail during boost. The Deuce's Wild! has been built 'stock' by its legions of fans and it has also been kit-bashed many exciting designs. Variants of this kit, using the stock Deuce's Wild! as a building platform include a Nike-Deuce, Dyna-Soar/Titan Deuce, Multi-Staged Deuce and has even been modified to qualify at NARAM 45 for Dual-Egg Loft and Super Roc events. The Deuce's Wild! design has also been built in several different scales from 6mm (MMX) up to and including 38mm. In a very unique undertaking FlisKits, with the help of Carl Tulanko (builder of the 38mm Deuce's Wild!) coordinated to launch all the different sizes of Deuce's Wild!, one after another, at NSL-2003 in a most spectacular series of launches.
At the time of this writing, 20 of the 50 states have been signed up. If you would like to find out more about this project, volunteer to host a state Tour de Deuce launch or join the fun if your state has already been hosted, FlisKits encourages you to visit http://www.fliskits.com/tour_de_deuce/ and read all about this exciting project.
FlisKits would like to thank Jason and Eugenio, and all of the rocketeers around the country that have pulled together to help get this project off the ground. FlisKits President, Jim Flis commented "It is enthusiasm like this that makes it exciting to be in this business. We have found many rocketeers who truly appreciate our approach to sport rocketry and long for ways to help manufacturers like ourselves to thrive in this unique hobby. The effort and imagination of Jason and Eugenio is stupendous and very welcome. What a wonderful way for a new company to close out its first year of operation!"
