ImageMavericks is proud to announce their first annual rocket competition. This year's 2007 competition category is now set for the entry level 30,000 foot award. This award is sponsored by Draper-Fisher-Jurvetson, a long time venture capital firm located in the SF Bay area.

In this competition, rockets that achieve at least 30,000 feet and not more than 33,000 feet, will win the prize money. This year's prize money for the 30,000 feet class winner will be $10,000 dollars.

Mavericks has established two other categories for competition at the 60,000 foot level and at the 100,000 foot level. Mavericks hopes to announce these two other competitions as soon as we can, including prize money amounts, rules and dates.

Each class has a set of rules which must be followed. The specific rules are still being drafted, so please visit the Mavericks Rocketry website often to stay updated. Rules will be posted no later than March 4, 2007.

All rockets entered into competition will be required to be pre-qualified for the competition by launching at the July Mavericks launch.

In addition to the sounding rocket competition, Mavericks will be host to a collection of universities from around the world, many of whom are now competing in ARLISS, to compete in their Planetary Sciences CubeSAT payloads and Planetary Rover entries.

All rocket contestants will be launching a university payload as part of the competition!

All Tripoli prefectures and NAR sections are encouraged to pass this announcement down to their members. Announcements and updates will be posted frequently, so stay tuned.

Mavericks International Educational Competition

Mavericks adopted the opinion that every rocket launched must have a mission. In real life situations, payloads are the main reason rockets are launched. So, to carry that idea over into Mavericks, we have secured a partnership with numerous universities around the world to participate in this competition. Through the efforts of Stanford University's Professor Bob Twiggs, Mavericks will host the educational payload competition. Universities are now engaged in producing satellites, rovers and probes designed for future Mars and Moon expeditions. These schools will be producing probes, rovers and satellites designed to send information via satellite to their respective schools over the Internet so the whole world can watch the events live.

The educational participation will reflect real world business activities by having the fliers work with their respective payload clients to insure a successful project for both parties.
