ImageTOLEDO, Ohio USA — Art Upton of BoosterVision has announced immediate availability of a license-free hi-gain video telemetry system called the Mini GearCam Radome Combo.  The small, light-weight system is powered by a 9-volt battery.

The system consists of a 2.4Ghz wireless camera with a built-in microphone and a 12db hi-gain radome antenna. 

Range is from 1000 feet on the ground through 2000 feet at a 45 degree angle in airplanes to 4000 feet straight up for rockets and balloons. 

The beauty of the system is that it does not require an FCC license.

Comes with receiver, 12 volt AC/DC power supply for receiver and camera 9-volt battery clip. Use with antenna on your flight bag, mounted on a tripod, or on a rifle-like hand stock.

None Honey, I want one of these!
The nice thing about this system is that you don't have to manually point the antenna toward your rocket. Boostervision has a similar setup (BV-GMCBO) with a directional antenna for about $19 more. That gives you a bit more range (up to a mile total) but with the added requirement of manually pointing the antenna. For rockets that are limited to such altitudes, this seems like the ticket.

Now, how can I let my wife know I want one?
