ImageIf you ever wanted to try the hobby of model rocketry, here's your chance.  Want to learn more about physics and aeronautics while trying something that's out of this world?  Model rocketry is the most fun you'll have in an educational hobby.  That's the reason that so many people love rockets.  They're great for young people and offer enough challenge for seasoned hobbyists, too.

ImageSure, you may have considered rocketry — but unless you have a little help getting stated it can seem a little overwhelming.  Well, the HobbyTown USA® stores have teamed up with Estes to change that.  On Saturday, May 5, our stores will be hosting their national model rocket Build N' Blast.

This is your chance to get a free Estes model rocket and learn hands-on building techniques at your local HobbyTown USA store.  Then you can take home your rocket to blast it off.  And the very best part of it — it's free!  The rocket and the class will cost you nothing, you'll need to supply a rocket engine and launch pad and you're ready to try out a new hobby.

The Build N' Blast is open to beginning rocketeers of all ages, and is ideal for youth groups or scout troups.  But space in this special class is limited, so register early at your local HobbyTown USA store.  If your local store is not hosting the Build N' Blast, ask them about helping you find a local rocket group or getting your youth group or scout troop set up with a rocket event.  You'll be glad you did!

We hope this year's Build N' Blast will be the biggest ever, introducting more future rocket fans to a fun and rewarding hobby that will last for years to come.  Please join us.

A Message From The NAR Prez:

If you're looking for a good way to reach a receptive local audience, this is probably a good event. The store will have arranged both a place and an audience. You get to spend a Saturday finding ready made new blood for your club. If you can schedule a launch for very shortly afterwards, I think you'll find this a productive way to get new members.

I recommend NAR sections interested in this event use the store locator, find a local HobbyTown store, and contact them directly about their involvement in that event. I would also recommend sections check their supply of NAR brochures and be sure to have some of those on hand.

Finally, I've contacted the company directly via email, and asked how we might formally become involved in the event. When I receive a reply and have further details, I'll pass them along.
