ImageCHESTERFIELD TWP, Michigan USA — Public Missiles, Ltd. announced the release of their new Highly Adaptive Motor Retainers (HAMR) today, a new motor retention system specifically designed for use with PML kits or any scratch-built rockets that utilize PML motor tubes.

These lightweight, tool-free, threaded retainers are precision CNC-machined from 6061 aluminum and available for 29mm, 38mm, and 54mm motors. These retainers fit virtually all popular motor brands and types including Aerotech RMS™, CTI Pro®, Animal Motor Works, Hypertech®, Kosdon, Sky Ripper Systems, Loki Research and others.

The HAMR system can be adapted to existing rockets if the motor tube extends at least 3/8” beyond the aft centering ring and uses a PML phenolic motor tube. The HAMR system can also be used with boattail and tailcone rockets.

PML didn't leave their Kwik-Switch users out.  They developed a motor retention system just for them: The HAMR-KS (Highly Adaptable Motor Retainers, Kwik-Switch version) system has been designed specifically for use with PML rocket kits or any scratch-built rocket using PML Kwik-Switch motor tubes.

In the HAMR-KS, the base HAMR-54 retainer is mounted to the Kwik-Switch "mother tube" for use with 54mm motors. Two HAMR adapter plates are supplied for flying the rocket with 38mm or 29mm motors. Changing from one motor size to another takes just seconds with the HAMR-KS, with no tools required.

PML has also released a HAMR installation document including retro-fit information in Adobe PDF format (720k).

Pricing:

  • HAMR-54-SET: $32.95
  • HAMR-38-SET: $28.95
  • HAMR-29-SET: $24.95
  • HAMR-KS-SET: $42.95

I wonder if PML is going to come out with 75mm or 98mm retainers?
