"The entire field of boost-gliders (B/G) is rapidly growing into a distant and separate part of model rocketry. More and more modelers are devoting all their time to these little winged beasties. I talk a good deal about B/G in these columns for several reasons: (1) B/G is a wide-open subject that interests both model aviators and model rocketeers; (2) it is an area in which a great deal of aeromodeling research remains to be done; and (3) it involves more than just up-and-down."
This was a few of the opening sentences in the article "Rocket Trails" by G. Harry Stine from the American Modeler magazine, July-August 1963. The article was about boost-gliders and the scare of basement bombers in the new hobby of model rocketry. The article has been captured and converted to Adobe PDF format to share with the readers. Part of the challenge we face in the hobby is the archival and preservation of these old sources of information on our hobby. Adobe PDF format makes a great medium for the collection and storage of these types of documents because of its portability and cross-platform approach. While this approach is still acceptable, the preference is toward user-generated submissions scanned by the users themselves.

This article is perfect for the youngest member of RR, my son Erik. He loves the R/C aircraft and glide recovery with the addition of R/C is something he is interested in, although he likes his powered planes more.
