Upscale
That rocket would be a badass upscale. I'm going to have to get the "E" motor version and check it out. I like the idea of Estes using through the slotted airframe for fin attachment, should make the rocket able to stand up to any motor that will fit in the mount.

Yep a 3X upscale to 6 inch diameter and 9.75 feet long on an M motor that would be cool. Sounds like a project for me!!!

When?!?!?!
Does anyone have any info as to when these kits will be available (and the price)?
I went to the Estes site and these kits are not listed in their 2007 catalog.
I had one when I was a kid, and would love one now as a BAR.
Thanks
Les

Interceptor Price?
I can only speculate, but based on the prices of their smaller kits, I do not think I'd consider buying one without the Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon.
Do you think it might cost as much as $50.00?

Quote: Does anyone have any info as to when these kits will be available (and the price)? They will probably end up being mid-year releases, which is why they aren't in the current catalog. Look for them sometime in June or July. Pricing should be comparable to other kits of their size and complexity.
Scott Hansen is projecting these dates and prices:
Quote: As promised, I now have projected availability info (always subject to change) along with the suggested retail price for each kit.
The #1250 kit is due out in July/early August and will have a suggested retail price of $24.99. A far cry from what people are paying for these on eBay! Better hurry and sell your originals now before the bottom drops out on that market.
The #1350 kit is due out late August/early September and will have a suggested retail price of $49.99.

Sometimes I buy my kits from Omni Models http://www.omnimodels.com/ The link for Rocketry is located at the bottom of their homepage as they mostly specialize in RC. But they do have some very reasonable pricing and shipping as well as OOP Estes kits here and there. They also have a great selection of building supplies & tools. Here is the link for the page containing the pricing and availability of the Interceptor kits both 1250 http://www3.omnimodels.com...wOi0001p?&I=ESTT1250&P=0 & the 1350 http://www3.omnimodels.com...wOi0001p?&I=ESTT1350&P=0 I hope this helps all who are interested

Omni models looks like it is somehow related to Tower Hobbies. Both in Illinois and pricing is identical as well as the web site being somewhat similar. I wonder if they ship from the same place. I just started ordering from Tower last week and the service and pricing were great. The discount on Estes rockets is good, about 40% which I know is wholesale pricing but the one pricing oddity at both places is on standard and mini-engines. They are almost the same price as the D engines and only about 10% off list price. I may contact Tower to see if there is some sort of problem with that as everything else has the big discount. But very happy with Tower so far and I joined their club which brings free shipping. Plan on picking up a standard and large Interceptor soon, I owned an original back in 1971.

AC Supply has them for $16.75 -- I got two about a month ago. Their shipping is $10, but check out their other prices, really decent.
Great service, too.

AC Supply does have great prices. Tower Hobby also has some great kit prices.
However TH hasn't gotten either of the Interceptor kits in yet. They had said that they would have both late September. Now on their website it says early November. The smaller kit listing at 16.49 and the larger at 34.99.
What I like about TH is that many times they run specials like spend 75.00 or more and get 15.00 off.

Well, first, I really should paint the Saturn V that has been sitting, COMPLETELY built, for almost 10 years! I've got enough kits to last 50 winters, and unless I am doing rockets well past my 100th birthday, I better get moving!

I've got two Interceptor E's on the way from Tower Hobby. The kits cost $34.99 each. Shipping was $8.99. The total was $68.97 including shipping because Tower is running a $10 off on 50 + purchases.
UPS Tracking tells me they should be here on November 12 and I am going to have to bump one right up to the top of the build list.

The Interceptor E's came in today from Tower right on time. These are beefy heavy kits.
I couldn't wait and had to tear one open. This is gonna be one fun build! Great high quality components and tons of great looking decals.
I have been known to knock Estes for turning out too many pre-made rockets, but this one is very different. I'm Impressed.
