WASHINGTON, District of Columbia USA — Given recent changes in the operational structure at the Federal Aviation Administration, a representative of the FAA, Cheryl Brown of the newly-defined Western System Support group, has offered some assistance for those seeking to submit waiver applications for rocket launches.

According to Brown, last year the FAA Air Traffic Division went through a major change: the nine regional office divisions were combined to form three regional service centers, and then the division was split into five groups.  There are one or two specialists in each of the three service centers who are assigned to handle waiver requests.

Individuals wishing to request a waiver should direct their inquiries and waiver applications to the appropriate service center when possible.

She is one of the really good people to deal with. She has bent over backwards to fax copies of waivers when they got lost in the shuffle. I would urge everyone in the Western area to treat her well.

Pilgrim is an excellent resource for Central Region I just got off the phone twice with Joseph Pilgrim, the primary contact for Central, and he has been extremely supportive in terms of directing me for my HPR launch request. You normally don't think of the gov't being so pleasant to work with, since they hold all the cards. This was a positive experience. His info is listed in the link on the initial post. But, I have to still go thru Kansas City for the particular location and waiver I am after, and that is pending. Will follow up after that step. K-Man
