ImageBALAD, Iraq ASIA — For years now, American servicemen have been going above and beyond the call of duty to protect the American way of life.  In return, Americans have been trying to show their appreciation for this, such as the efforts displayed recently by Bob Utley and Neil McGilvray of ROCKETS Magazine.

A few weeks ago, United States Air Force Technical Sergeant Daniel Barrett, an American soldier deployed to Iraq, wrote an email to ROCKETS Magazine asking if perhaps they could supply some old copies of the magazine for the troops stationed with TSgt Barrett to read. What he got in return was unexpected.

Utley and McGilvray not only sent every single issue of the magazine from inception to date, they also sent every single DVD they've ever released as well, which based on the ROCKETS Magazine DVD library, that is an impressive feat. Barrett was ecstatic.

"A few weeks ago I send ROCKETS Magazine an email asking if they could send some old copies of [the] magazine for the troops to read," Barrett said. "Not only did they send every issue of their magazine to date, they also sent every DVD."

The rocketry community has always been known to behave as a big family, taking care of one another as needs arise, but it is certainly exciting to see a company respond in such an extraordinary manner in recognition of our armed forces.

"All I can say is they went above and beyond," Barrett said.

You can show your support for ROCKETS Magazine by getting a magazine subscription, a DVD set or any of their hundreds and hundreds of available launch photos from their website at http://www.rocketsmagazine.com/.

This article, the way rocketeers have responded to Tim Lehr's fire, and the way people responded to the accident that ROC had while moving launch equipment to LDRS are excellent examples of the fine character that many (I believe most) rocketeers have.
