ImageWORLD WIDE WEB — Paul Holmes of the Tripoli Rocketry Association's TMT motor testing division announced the certifications of five new reloadable motors for Loki Research of Yardley, Pennsylvania.  These are a sparky and red propellant for Loki's 38mm line of motor hardware.

Loki Sparky - H100LS

This motor utilizes Loki's short, life saver-style Bates grains, with four grains in this short case.  The thrust curve is indicative of this design with an immediate rise to 187 N, holding near that level for about .75 seconds, with a straight line drop to 0 at the end or burn point. The motor specs are as follows:

Total Impulse: 199.89 NSec
Max Thrust: 187.3 N
Average: 102.4 N
Burn Time: 2.1 sec
Metric: 24.31%

Loki Sparky - I316LS

This motor again utilizes Loki's short Bates grains, with eight grains in this mid size case.  The thrust curve is an immediate rise to 545 N with a straight line drop to 0 at the end of burn point. The motor specs are as follows:

Total Impulse: 436.92 NSec
Max Thrust: 545.57
Average: 309 N
Burn Time: 1.39 sec
Metric: 37%

Loki Blue - J712LB

This motor utilizes standard Bates grains, with six grains in this long case.  The thrust curve is a standard square wave rise to 827 N with a straight thrust line continuing to just about .95 seconds, where the decay to 0 at the end of burn point at 1.25 seconds. The motor specs are as follows:

Total Impulse: 827.665 NSec
Max Thrust: 849 N
Average: 694.67
Burn Time: 1.25 seconds
Metric: 29.32%

Loki Red - H90LR

This motor is similar to the Loki Sparky and the previously certified Loki Blue and White with four grains in this short case.  The thrust curve is an immediate rise to 35 pounds with a straight line drop to 0 at the end of burn point. The motor specs are as follows:

Total Impulse: 226.64 NSec
Max Thrust: 137 N
Average: 85.47 N
Burn Time: 2.65 sec
Metric: 43%

Loki Red - I210LR

This motor is a Bates-style eight grain offering in his mid size case.  The thrust curve is an immediate rise to 422 N with a straight line drop to 0 at the end of burn point. The motor specs are as follows:

Total Impulse: 489.76 NSec
Max Thrust: 422.75
Average: 234
Burn Time: 2.1 sec
Metric: 52%

TMT expects to complete the certification on two additional Loki Research J motors shortly after LDRS.

I love it! Colored effects motors from a company owned by a guy that says people shouldn't fly colored effects motors unless they are tea drinking knobs!

Time to pony up knobs! You know your money is good here

Actually, only the Spitfires are true knob motors. The reds and blues have awesome performance numbers. The blues are clocking in with Isp 228 and when you look at the $$$ per N-s they leave the competition choking on HCl.

For example, the new J712-LB reload for the 38-740 hardware pounds out more that 820 N-s total impulse and is still only $39.99. How many N-s do you get from Aerotech for under $40?? Not many! The best Aerotech can do for $39.99 is an I211W, only 441 N-s! An Aerotech J420R gives not even 700 N-s and lists for $56.95.

I hope to see some of the new Knob by Loki motors at NYPower in a couple weeks. I just love red motors.....they are my favorites.

Is Loki planning a green motor?

No plans for green at this time. The next two propellants will be black smoke and ultra fast.

Why the need for ultra fast? Yet another example for the ATF to use besides Warp 9?

Jeff - I haven't seen any new product announcements - is the work delayed on the Black Smoke and Ultra Fast propellants?

The H100 kicks tail in my Polecat Spike.

Now if I can take a hostage get him to port those same grains to the 38-120 and get the darn thing certified, it will be knob heaven & the promised land for people stuck with small fields - A G sparky!

No need to take a hostage..
AMWPro-X has always had a clear design path to help you out..

I personally don't think 5 propellants are enough for the 38mm 1 grain motor.

So Guess what??

More to come VERY SOON!!!

Buy the 1 grain Hardware now, while I'm offering it at a very low price, YOU WON"T BE SORRY!!!

The website implies an ATF permit is required for all motors? Even the <62.5 Gs?

If your attempt is to go around the law, by selling, or buying a single grain, when you have no intention of using it as a single grain, then I would probably consider requiring a leup. Example you don't have any single grain hardware, just larger ones, and have no interest in a one grain hardware.

Granted this is a STRETCH
But we are suppose to say the politically correct answers, until the Judge rules.
Paul

But the fact that we sell the 1 grain with the correct nozzle, liner, and all componets for a one grain motor system does offer some relief for grains UNDER 62.5 grams.
currently there are 3 offerings that meet that requirement, with more coming.

I accidently posted this in this Loki thread, and also asked elsewhere. Darrell pointed out that this was edited.

Slipping by the law is not my intent whatsoever...as evidenced by my buying only a one grain case. I'd be suspicious of someone buying dozens of 1 grain loads and only multi-grain cases.

BTW, I'm soooo happy to have the higher avg impulse loads. Keep up the good work!

There are obviously too many cynics out there.....I still buy my eggs one at a time. A dozen will go bad too quickly.
