ARGONIA, Kansas USA — You've seen a scratch-build contest before. Now are you ready for a real challenge? KLOUDBusters and Giant Leap Rocketry are once-again sponsoring a build-it/fly-it contest for truly die-hard rocketeers: From the Ground Up, "Quirky-Kit" Style.
Assemble your team of skilled designers and builders, grab your hand tools and be ready to think "outside the box!" This contest will challenge you down to your rocketry soul. The winners of this event will be crowned "the best of the best." The competition is to be held on Saturday, September 1, 2007, bginning at 8:00 AM, during A.I.R. Fest 13, Tripoli Rocketry Association commercial and research launch to be held in Argonia, Kansas, site of next year's LDRS. A.I.R. Fest 13 is scheduled to run Friday through Sunday, August 31 through Sept. 2, 2007 for commercial motors and Monday Sept. 3, 2007 for research motors. CONTEST ENTRY AND REGISTRATION: - Registration fee: $45 per team.
- Teams must be registered by August 15, 2007.
- Limited to the first ten (10) registered teams.
- Each team member will receive a one-of-a-kind "Quirky-Kit" style t-shirt.

TEAM REQUIREMENTS: - Each team must have minimum of 1 member who is Level 2 or higher.
- Teams may not exceed a 10 member point limit.
- Member points are counted as follows: L3 (4 points), L2 (3 points), L1 (2 points), non-certified member (1 point).
- All team members must be TRA or NAR members and be a registered A.I.R. Fest 13 flier.
BUILDING REQUIREMENTS: - Any power tools used must be cordless.
- All visible parts of assembled rocket must be finished by paint or other coating, 2 colors minimum.
- Rockets are subject to standard safety criteria and must obtain RSO and LCO approval.
PROVIDED SUPPLIES: - Standard, basic "quirky" rocket materials provided include: Airframe material, fin material, nosecone material, centering ring and bulkhead material, recovery supplies, duct tape, motor tube, launch lugs. (Glue not included)
TEAM PROVIDED SUPPLIES: - Each team must supply their own tools, glue/epoxy and finishing (paint) products, additional duct tape.
- Electronics are a team option, but not required.
- Each team must supply its own motor and case from the approved motor list.
APPROVED MOTOR LIST: - Any Tripoli or NAR currently certified K-class motor (provided by team).
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM TOOL LIST: - Hand saw, Hand drill, Square/Straight edge, Compass, Epoxy, Two-Part foam, Knife, Pencil.
- Remember: Cordless POWER TOOLS are allowed!
SCORING: - Highest score wins.
