ImageThe Rocketry Planet Auctions have been enjoying a surge in activity lately and the increased traffic has led to several new changes that all auction users should find useful.  The changes are directly related to the way auction listings are displayed.

In the default installation of the software, auction categories are broken down into subcategories, making finite segregation possible to keep rocketry components in an easy-to-use, organized manner.  The difficulty of a system that is as scalable as this is that it often makes for "too many clicks" to see all of the products in a given category.

Since there are several ways to view a given category's listings as well as different methods to get there, the first change was made to the linked category names on the auction front page.  At the top of the auction front page is a yellow box with all of the categories and subcategories laid out in a easy-to-navigate manner.  Just locate the category or subcategory you are interested in and click the link.

ImageBut what if you want to see all of the items of a particular category?  There is now a solution that involves less clicks.  When you click on the category name (See image "A"), rather than displaying another page with more links to the individual subcategory, it displays a linear listing of all of the auction items in that category sorted by those ending soonest.  You can click on the column headings to redisplay the list sorted by that category: auction name, last bid, number of bids or ending time.

ImageOn other pages of the auctions than the front page, you can quickly display the same behavior described above by going to the "Browse" drop down selection box  (See image "B") in the auction header and selecting a category from the drop down list.  Just as above, the system will display a listing of all auction items in that category sorted by those ending soonest. You can click on the column headings to redisplay the list sorted by that category: auction name, last bid, number of bids or ending time.

ImageThe last change involves a master listing of all auction items displayed as described above. The link to this behavior is located on the front page of the auctions, just to the right of the word "Category" in the yellow category header (See image "C").  The link, "View All," will display a listing of every active item currently available for auction across all categories, sorted to display those ending soonest first.  You can click on the column headings to redisplay the list sorted by that category: auction name, last bid, number of bids or ending time.

Rocketry Planet Auctions are becoming more and more popular, and it makes sense.  Given the cost of listing items on eBay combined with continuing uncertainty of exactly who it is that you are dealing with conducting and concluding transactions there, it makes more sense to utilize a hobby rocketry community-based auction site such as Rocketry Planet, especially when the Rocketry Planet Auctions are free!
