ImageLAKE OSWEGO, Oregon USA — BigRedBee, LLC is pleased to announce two new enhancements to the popular BeeLine GPS Telemetry transmitter: the addition of Hardware Launch Detect and Digital Telemetry, further adding to the completely integrated, all-in-one package.

Hardware Launch Detect: An integrated acceleration switch (G-switch) is available to mark the beginning of flight data written to onboard memory. Coupled with the existing 'smart data logging' feature, the G-switch provides a more reliable method of detecting launch than the current software algorithm based on GPS altitude.

Digital Telemetry: The status of up to four digital inputs may be included in the data packet. Flight events such as airframe separation or motor ignition can be transmitted by connecting a simple break wire. Inputs from other digital systems may also be connected.

There are a total of four digital imputs available:

  • A and B are dedicated inputs, and are always available.
  • C is shared with the hardware G-switch. If the G-switch is not used, then this is available as an input. If the G-switch is enabled, it may be possible to overlay another switch on this pin as long as it is "normally open".
  • D is shared with the battery monitoring circuit. If the battery monitoring circuit is disabled, then D can be used as a digital input. This open must be specified at the time of your order, as it requires a hardware change on the board.

Prices for the BeeLine GPS Transmitter remain unchanged. The optional digital telemetry package is available for $40. This package includes an integrated G-switch, cables and two dedicated digital inputs.

Please see the BeeLine GPS documentation for more information regarding configuration of other inputs.
