WORLD WIDE WEB — The 50th National Association of Rocketry Annual Meet (NARAM-50) and an associated 50th Anniversary Old Rocketeers Reunion, is scheduled to be held at the Great Meadow Outdoor Center in The Plains, Virginia July 26 - August 1, 2008.

ImageThe event, co-hosted by the NAR Headquarters AstroModeling Section (NARHAMS), section #139, and the Northern Virginia Association of Rocketry (NOVAAR), section #205, will also play host to the 50th Anniversary Old Rocketeers Reunion, and NARAM 50 treasurer, Thomas Ha, will be conducting a contest associated with the reunion.

Ha is seeking pictures of "the young and the old," both earlier photos and current photos of rockeeteers that NARAM attendees might recognize.  Examples of these people would include Vern Estes, Mark Bundick, Trip Barber, Dr. Gerald Gregorek, Rod Shafer, Glenn Feveryear, past Board of Trustee members, etc.  The premise for the contest will be the fun in seeing if people can recognize individuals as their young and old selves.  The photos can be from people who were active in model rocketry in their youth or more recently, allowing "born again rocketeers" to be included.

The contest will involve identifying as many of the people in the photos as you can, by matching up their young and old photos that will be posted in a random fashion for everyone to see.  Anyone who gets a perfect score will win a major prize, the top five who match the most will win lesser, but still very nice, prizes.  After the contest is over, the photos will be matched up in pairs and displayed at the host hotel, so you can see if your picks were correct or not.

Photos should be mailed to Ha in care of NARTS, and he will return them as long as he receives a return address with the photo submission.  Pictures of the person launching a rocket or gazing into the sky tracking a rocket are especially desirable.  Those wishing credit for photo submission should also submit this with their submission, and credit will be added once the contest is over, to maintain anonymity during the contest.  Photos may also be submitted using the email addresses below.
