Giant Leap Rocketry has just introduced the TALON 6, the Level-3 version of the TALON line of rockets. It can attain altitudes of nearly 10,000 feet, standing over 10 feet high, 6” in diameter, with a 75mm motor mount.  It comes in two versions, a fiberglass version and a phenolic cardboard version.

The TALON 6 comes loaded with these features:

The nosecone and tailcone are hand made with a smooth exterior surface that requires very little prep work and are made from epoxy-based fiberglass, not polyester. Giant Leap products feature epoxy by Aeropoxy, the leading resin in the homebuilt aircraft industry.

The fins are made of 1/4" composite honeycomb in a fiberglass sandwich and the fin edges come pre-finished. All centering rings and bulkhead plates are made of Giant Leap's signature 1/2" 9-ply birch.

The avionics bay is 21" long and features an electronics mounting board that slides in and out on dado'ed slots. All shockcords are tubular Kevlar™ and include the FIREBALL to resist zippering.

The recovery system features a redundant anchoring system so that in the unlikely event that one attachment point fails, there's a back up anchor.  The attachment hardware is a combination of beefy U-bolts, quik-links, and Kevlar straps.

The motortube is 75mm 48" long and features a 75mm threaded Slimline retainer made from 6061 T6 aircraft grade aluminum.

The instruction booklet is 34 pages long and has lots of step-by-step photos.

The kit includes a high quality vinyl decal, approximately 2 feet in length, to add a final touch of beauty.
