ImageBURIN PENINSULA, Newfoundland CAN — Memorial University "Let’s Talk Science Partnership Program" is committed to bringing the excitement of science to youth across Newfoundland and Labrador.

It provides hands-on activities, lab tours and other events free-of-charge. The program endeavours to reach all youth in the province, especially those in communities that do not have the same level of access to science programming, including those in rural/remote areas.

Let’s Talk Science strives to improve science literacy through leadership, innovative educational programs, research and advocacy. The program motivates and empowers youth to use science, technology and engineering to develop critical skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to thrive in our world.

The program visited Lake Academy in Fortune where all students were exposed to the program through science demonstrations and a model rocket launch.

Recent studies have shown in order to build a strong knowledge-base for future generations, it is important to incorporate science literacy and science learning in their education at an early age and regularly to keep students interested in science engineering and technology.

It is for this reason LTS has developed inquiry-based programs designed to develop the critical skills, knowledge and attitudes children and youth need to thrive in our world.
