GAITHERSBURG, Maryland USA — ROCKETS Magazine's December 2007 issue is in the mail and being delivered to subscribers now.  Featuring BALLS 15, Southern Thunder and Nebraska Heat 10, the issue has plenty of launch info about the activities of the Tripoli Rocketry Association.

Neil McGilvray traveled back to the Black Rock Desert in Gerlach, Nevada this past September to capture the BALLS 16 event and the article covers all of the excitement.  Supported with the great photography of Steve Jurvetson together with McGilvray's eye for shots, the article captured the essence of Tripoli's annual experimental launch.

Meanwhile, Mark Canepa traveled to Manchester, Tennessee to cover the Southern Thunder launch held this past June, resulting in an outstanding nine page article spread which also featured supporting Canepa photography. Southern Thunder is a premier event in the Southeast, a must see for those close enough to attend.

Also featured is a great Richard Burney-authored six page article about Nebraska Heat 10, a three-day regional launch held by The Heartland Organization of Rocketry (THOR) this past June at Pickrell, Nebraska.  Combined with photos by Burney and Rick Bosworth, the story highlighted what looked like to be a great event.

A special feature in this issue, an article entitled "The Use of Flight Motors in Solid Rocket Propellant Characterization Experiements," authored by Michael McBurnnett, Ph. D., was presented describing a method to characterize experimental propellant formulae using an accelerometer-equipped rocket to capture the flight data.

The issue was rounded out with Part 2 in Mark Canepa's technical series on single-use and reloadable high power rocket motors.
