The Jean Dry Lake Bed is about twenty-two miles south of Las Vegas, Nevada and about fifteen miles from the California border. From the paved road, it's a two-mile ride on a relatively challenging dirt road to get to the desert playa. The actual launch site is about three-quarters of a mile into the middle of the Jean Dry Lake Bed. On the up side, this is a great place to launch rockets. It is expansive, with very low sage-brush, making recovery of a rocket reasonably easy, assuming of course that your rocket made it off the lakebed. The down side at this year's LDRS 26 was the temperature. The Las Vegas area was experiencing a record heat wave, with daily temperatures hovering around 110 degrees Fahrenheit plus. You can forget about all that "it's a dry heat" malarkey; hot is hot, no matter how you cut it. LDRS XXVI Preview: Windows Media | Quicktime July 12-17, 2007 Duration: 1:27 To place your order for the LDRS XXVI video set, visit the ROCKETS Magazine website: http://www.libertylaunchsystems.com/Video/
In addition to the video set, you can browse the 4,600 photos that were taken at the event. (Note: The full, unedited Thermite discussion is available separately. The one included on this DVD set is not complete.)
