There is absolutely nothing wrong with military missiles. The design, shape and even purpose of a missile does not dictate it's use. Some of the most interesting rockets are designed and used by the military. Quite honestly, without the military pushing rocketry we would be decades behind where we are now.

As you said, these are very nice rockets. I might have to pick one up and fly it.

Yea, think about all the sounding rockets that used missile surplus motors/fin cans. I can't think of any (except the Black Brant and that was Canadian) off the top of my head that have been designed in the past 40 years that weren't mil surplus. The big exception to the military's "help" might be the old Vanguard--then again, wasn't the Redstone sort of a V2 on steroids?

For an even closer descendent of the V2 that is now a Civilian Space Craft, one need look no further than north of the border:

It's great that Madcow includes rail buttons. More manufacturers need to get with the program. Our club tries to get all of its members to launch HP off rails instead of having to carry several different sizes of rods.

Hi,

OEY! Me tinks i struck a nervee!

1. What is it with egghead mindset that it is because of the military we are so far along because of the military development of rockets, you know if we wasn't wastin our time building rockets to murder each other, we would be colonizing Pluto by now!

2. Yep, I agree we should convert ALL missiles to launch vehicles and quite wasting them! Why don't the military be real men and instead of drinking beer and launching a missiles to murder our enemies, why don't we go over and choke the life out of them with our bear hands! We could convert the missiles and send me to the Moon Alice!

3. The Redstone was a whole new generation of missile, which you know if we weren't messin with developing missiles, we could have developed a launch vehicle and MAYBE we would have beat the Soviets into space!
Saying the Redstone is a souped up V-2 is like saying all cars are Model T's......wait I wish they were the Model T got 35mpg and was designed to run on Ethanol! WTH! We've gone backwards in missiles development and car development, thankyou military!

4. The Canadian Arrow will never fly, it was a dead idea when the Germans thought of it, and it is just as dead now! But it is purdy!

5. Ok, I do think they are purdy, why don't we convert them to Civilian Space Vehicles! Yep, I might buy one to do that!

6. Let's make heros out of machine that crush, kill, destroy! That's being good role models for our youth! No Nukes! NO NUKES!

MadCow Rockets are AWESOME though!
