WORLD WIDE WEB — Join Rocketry Planet this Saturday evening at 9:00 PM EST for an online chat session with James Long of Lil Brother LLC, a provider of electronics SMT assembly services, as he fields questions from viewers about altimeter design and other electronics questions.
James Long is a former prefect of Tripoli, and was involved at one point in running the Tripoli headquarters, who has 12 years of experience in avionics (aviation electronics) plus six years experience in automation. He heads up Lil Brother LLC, an SMT assembly business that assembles surface mount electronics, and has come back to rocketry after a few years absence. Long's current interest is in developing a new generation of altimeters integrated with current technology such as the latest battery design, SD memory cards, etc. This hosted chat session is to allow Long to field questions about altimeter design, SMT technology and other electronics. The chat will occur in the Rocket Talk chat room, and a link will be made available via the homepage before the event.

uhhhh. The implication in the picture that your Altimeter is driven by Windows is terrifying...even to an MCSE.

That is hilarious......the ruler was for scale....and that is NOT the altimeter. That is a digital instrument sensor board for a totally different item. The picture came from an article I wrote for Rocketry Planet.
The altimeter will be minuscule compared to the board pictured.
I wouldn't even dream of using Win-doze for an altimeter....the blue screen of destruction would really suck.
But thanks for the laugh.......I needed it after all the hours I've put into the project so far.

I actually remembered....about three hours away at this point.
Hope every one will at least come...and give their ideas.

Re: Join Rocketry Planet for a hosted Electronics chat session
I appreciate everyone who turned out....and understand that some had prior plans.
It was nice chatting about the altimeter and it's design, but was also nice seeing a chat presence on the web.
I hope it can become a more "standard" happening on the site.
I did get some questions that i hadn't thought of....and will download the chat log for future reference when working on the decision logic of the altimeter.
Thanks again,
James L
