ImageCAMP HILL, Pennsylvania USA — Camp Hill residents shouldn't worry if they hear rocket fire from Siebert Park on the afternoon of April 20.

The Borough Council on Wednesday night approved a request from Cub Scout Pack 51 to launch model rockets in the park with adult supervision.

Cubmaster Scott Harper and activity coordinator Susan Smith captured the council's attention when they unveiled one of the cardboard and plastic rockets from Michael's Arts & Crafts.

The rockets will be launched about 300 feet in the air to demonstrate rocket physics, Harper said. The event will be canceled if wind conditions present a risk that the rockets will leave the field area, he said.

Smith said no more than 50 Cub Scouts, between ages 6 and 12, are expected to participate in the launch.

In other action, the council also approved posting signs at Fiala Field prohibiting unauthorized use of the field when it has been scheduled for use by a group. Adults playing soccer recently interfered with scheduled Little League practice, Councilman Don Edwards Jr. said.
