ImageMARION, Iowa USA — The National Association of Rocketry (NAR) is responding to member's requests for better communication between the operations of the organization and the member body.  The NAR has started its response by establishing an electronic newsletter distribution service.

In an online statement today, NAR president Mark Bundick invites members to sign up for their new electronic mail services offered through Constant Contact, Inc., a leading web-based email campaign and online survey company who has managed to tame the unruly world of member contact, helping small businesses, associations and non-profits connect with their members and clients.

"Clear, persistent communication with NAR members is a key component of the NAR's work in 2008," stated Bundick in his announcement.  "I need your assistance in this effort. The NAR has signed up with Constant Contact, an industry leading service that maintains your email contact information and preferences in a safe, secure environment. Once registered there, you will have direct control of the NAR news items you want delivered to your email inbox."

The service is free to all NAR members and offers multiple distribution lists.  Once you visit the sign-up page and enter your email address, you are presented with the ability to select from the following lists:

  • General NAR News
  • NAR Club News
  • Certified Engine Announcements
  • Education News and Events
  • High Power Certification
  • Competition News
  • Team America (TARC) News
  • NARTREK Skill Program

According to Bundick, "As we build out this capability, we will work with NAR committees and members to insure you receive the latest communications about only those topics you select. You alone will have access to those preferences, and may update your selections at any time."

NAR section leaders are encouraged to forward this announcement to their section websites and email lists.

This appears to be popular if the sluggish response the server gave me is any indication.

I have already signed up. I think this is a good start on a roadmap to NAR becoming more communicative with its membership.

I had no problems. In fact when I recvd my confirmation letter, I saw that I had misspelled my last name so I used the "update profile" link at the bottom of the email, went right back to the page and made the correction

BTW this was my first year to renew online--that worked well too. Glad to see NAR is coming into the 21st century.

No problems - just sluggishness. Seems faster now - could be a mistaken assumption on my part. Maybe slowdown was normal internet variability.
