WORLD WIDE WEB — Rogers Aeroscience is currently looking for Beta testers for their new RASAero software. RASAero is a combined aerodynamic analysis and flight simulation software package for model and high power rockets, experimental rockets, and sounding rockets.

Rogers Aeroscience believes the RASAero aerodynamic prediction methods are the most accurate available for model and high power rockets, and in their initial testing have demonstrated equivalent accuracy to professional engineering method aerodynamic analysis codes used for missiles, sounding rockets, and space launch vehicles.
 
Initial testing in comparison with barometric altimeter and optical tracking altitude flight data showed 85% of the RASAero altitude predictions have been within +/- 10% of the flight data, and 45% of the altitude predictions have been within +/- 5% of the flight data.
 
They are current looking for Beta testers to extensively run and to provide them feedback on the software. In particular for these Beta testers, they're looking for:
 
1) Rocketeers who fly extensively with barometric altimeters, GPS altimeters, or other types of altimeters in their rockets. Rogers Aeroscience is working through an extensive study comparing RASAero altitude predictions with barometric altimeter flight data and historical optical tracking flight data, and they're looking for Beta testers to participate in this study. Note: it is very important for this altitude prediction study that for the altitude data you collect or have collected that the rockets have been weighed prior to launch for an accurate liftoff weight.
 
2) Rocketeers who plan to compete in the Mach Madness Contest at LDRS. RASAero features very accurate transonic, supersonic, and hypersonic (if you make it that fast!) drag coefficient predictions based on the geometry of the rocket body and fins. Optimizing your design and accurately predicting your max Mach number and max velocity using the RASAero aerodynamic prediction and flight simulation software may give you the edge you need in the contest.
