WORLD WIDE WEB — The first edition of the National Association of Rocketry's The Electronic Rocketeer has rolled off the virtual presses and is on the way to members now. The NAR has taken up this initiative to help maintain better communication with their members.

The opening paragraph featured a welcome from current NAR president Mark Bundick, welcoming members to NAR's foray into digital media.  The newsletter went on to cover upcoming organizational meetings and other important information, while the periphery of the document held web links to important destination for members on the NAR website.

The NAR has come under fire from members about not effectively communicating with the membership, a pattern the NAR leadership has sought to reverse.  This electronic newsletter is just one of several initiatives the NAR Board of Trustees has voted to help turn that tide.

This issue of the newsletter includes the latest information on the 6th Annual TARC finals in Virginia, the 2008 National Sport Launch at Orangeburg, South Carolina, NARAM-50 at The Plains, Virginia, the NAR's 50th birthday party, the Old Rocketeer's Reunion and other NAR news.

An important albeit non-newsworthy update on the TRA/NAR lawsuit was provided by Bundick, stating that a lot of members have been inquiring about the status of the litigation in Federal court against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATF).  According to Bundick, "while the last required legal document filings occured over a year ago on April 10, 2007, there have been no further hearings or actions since that date. Counsel continues to check with the court clerks regarding status, but has no updates for us at this time."

Budick went on to state, "I know this is a frustrating process for members, but given the workload and staffing in Federal courts, particular in the D. C. District where our case is pending, results in these delays, and ours is not considered an exceptionally old case by that circuit's standards."
