BIRMINGHAM, Alabama USA — Clark Word, of 20/20 Vertical and Word Associates, Inc., has put together a collection of videos for this past weekend's NASA Student Launch Initiative launch held in Toney, Alabama, the middle and high school companion to NASA's university student event.

While similar to the University Student Launch Initiative (USLI), the Student Launch Initiative, or SLI, involves middle and high school students designing, building and testing reusable rockets with scientific payloads. This hands-on experience allows these students to demonstrate proof-of-concept for their designs.

Teams construct their launch vehicle to reach an altitude of one mile above ground level. In addition to the actual launch vehicle's performance, teams are also reviewed for design and other criteria. Teams can qualify to participate in the Student Launch Initiative by placing in the top 25 teams at the Team America Rocketry Challenge, or TARC.

I urge commenting on videos so people with crippled bandwidth (or limited time/interest) can download only the one(s) with the most interest.

Don't miss it.
