VAN ORIN, Illinois USA — Wildman Hobbies is pleased to announce they have teamed up with Performance Rocketry and Cesaroni Technology, Incorporated to bring you the "Great Gizmo Drag Race" at LDRS in Argonia Kansas this year. The one who lands last wins.

The race is open to anyone with a Gizmo and a Pro-54 2-grain motor.

If you don't have one, there is a special for you. You get the Gizmo and any Pro-54 reload along with case and rear closure for only $199.00. Normally retails for $305.15. All you have to do is enter it in the drag race at LDRS.

If you already have the Gizmo you can get the rest for $109.00.

The kit will ship out from Wildman's while the reload and hardware will be delivered at LDRS.

Big enough to win but not so big you loose it I want to see Gizmos thermaling away left and right.

Use a slide ring and a large parasheet made from a 1/4 mil drop cloth with about 64 strong thread shrouds and about a 10-15% spillhole.

And a successful deployment and recovery.

At Southern Thunder I was tempted to build and enter - but I was honestly not sure my rocket would ever come back. I have a 72" hemi that a friend sewed and it is made with real parachute cloth. It's supple and packs very small. This same parachute was used in a 5.38" rocket that weighed about 9lbs after motor burnout. The rocket was literally stopped in midair due to thermals and took more than 4 minutes to come down from 2800'. Imagine that parachute on a Gizmo...

RockSIM estimates 6 mins with the Gizmo as I would have used it.

I predict the winning entry at Argonia will be a flight with a duration of around 12 mins - if anyone has the guts to go hog wild it may be longer than that.

Should a rule be no GPS/Radio tracking?

The smartest guy will use a large chute, slightly tilt it and put a streamer on the upside for dead stick steering.

Must be the pose.
