Judging of the EMRR "Box O’ Parts Contest" entries has been completed and results are posted. Visit EMRR at http://www.rocketreviews.com/ and click on "Contests" to review the results. Less than three points separated the top five entries, a testament to the quality of the submitted models.
As one contestant noted, “This was my first EMRR contest, and it was a blast!” The comment seems to reflect the feelings of most, first contest or not. Contestants submitted a box of parts to enter the contest and then built their flying rockets from a box of parts that was compiled and re-distributed from the parts received. Photos of the rocket were then submitted along with a write-up to allow other modelers to hopefully duplicate their entry. Judging was based upon the general appearance of the rocket, its flight characteristics, and write-up. Todd Mullin deserves a big THANK YOU for running the contest. Todd spent hours upon hours making the event happen and finished his duties by tallying up the votes at the end of the contest. As Todd noted, “The entries are exactly the wide range of models I had hoped to see! Congratulations to you all!” Some of the entries looked like they should be in production. Rocketry vendors contributed parts and a number of prizes toward the contest and will send prizes to the winners soon. Visit the site and check out the winning models and other entries and the many great prizes donated.

Re: EMRR announces the results for the Box O’ Parts Contest
I participated myself. It was a blast. I really enjoyed it the entire thing. A couple of things that I didn't like cropped up but nothing that killed the buzz.
I was disappointed that the only other local club member who signed up was unable to participate. We had discussed having a bragging rights locally based on the results of a local showing of our creations - but he was swamped with work and unable to ever really get out of the design phase.
Hopefully he'll put something together before our next local launch (Nov).

I also wanted to enter but had to withdraw due to a shoulder surgery in
late February. I still can't do a lot of sanding or lifting.
Maybe they will re-do this contest, I would love to participate. Odd-Rocs
always did interest me as well as scratch building from misc. parts.

You could find a local buddy and split the box. Break it into piles of like materials and then take turns getting things 1 at a time from one pile pile until the piles are gone. Then grudge match it! Make 'em light and get help with any sanding.
