News Release by ROCKETS Magazine
Wednesday, August 06, 2008

ImageGAITHERSBURG, Maryland USA — ROCKETS Magazine is currently shipping the August issue to subscribers and the various retail locations supported by Kalmbach Distributing. In this issue you will discover one of the best kept secrets in rocketry: Brothers, Oregon.

Also included are three articles about everyone’s favorite rocket, the iconic Saturn V. Learn about building a successful Level III by Christopher Prinzi and be blown away by Steve Eves 1:10 scale Saturn V, scheduled to be launched later in the spring of 2009 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing .

Jeff Jakobs will take you step by step through the process of building a carbon fiber fin can. David Chance fought the Tree Gods and won. Justin Farrand reviews the Performance Rocketry Little Dog. All of this and more will be found in the latest issue of ROCKETS Magazine.

Thanks to the continued support and participation from the rocketry community, ROCKETS Magazine is growing. Starting with the August 2008 issue, ROCKETS Magazine will be 64 full-color pages in length, and this will be the new standard. The size of the magazine will remain 8-1/2" x 11" and all future issues will be shipped in an envelope. The cost to the subscriber will remain the same.

This will open up a new set of opportunities for promoting rocketry from the inside out. The writers and photographers who contribute to ROCKETS Magazine will have a bigger canvas to paint their creative and technical experiences on. We will have room to publish more articles, including some that have been waiting awhile. People who have considered getting a launch report, a technical article or photographs published will now have a better chance of seeing that happen.

Remember, ROCKETS Magazine is your magazine. The writers and photographers who participate in bringing the thrill of rocketry to you are also subscribers. The new enlarged 64-page format will help us better promote the hobby, the products, the vendors, and most important the fliers and their projects. Don’t be left standing on the sidelines; if you have something to share, get in the game. Be part of what makes rocketry great and get involved.

ROCKETS Magazine would like to thank our subscribers, advertisers, writers, and photographers for making this dream a reality. Reach for the stars and keep your dreams alive.

I always thought that Kalmbach would be a good vehicle for a rocketry magazine. I think their formula for the other hobby magazines they publish would lend itself well to rocketry. Obviously, this is only a distribution deal but it will greatly expand rocketry's face to the public. I could see Kalmbach becoming more involved with the content and direction of Rockets if sales are good.

I just got my copy of the new Rockets magazine. Wow, an impressive step. The layout is great and the increased content is wonderful. Even the column by Darrrel is good .

Among the content, the article by David Chance on a heroic effort to recover a rocket is incredible. Talk about hard core...

Rob & Neil -> well done
