PRINCETON, Illinois USA — Midwest Power 6 will be held on October 31 through November 2nd in Princeton, Illinois. The event is hosted by Quad Cities Rocketry Society with assistance by the members of WOOSH, NAR #558.

Anything's possible at Midwest Power.

The first day of the event, Friday, October 31st will be a research rules launch. Saturday and Sunday are commercial days.

A night launch will be held Saturday evening following a pizza banquet to be held at the Days Inn. Tickets for the pizza party will be sold on the field.

The field will entertain all with a standing waiver of 16,000' with two windows of 25,000' during each day.

Camping is free at the field. Campers must park their vehicles and trailers on the side of the road at the launch site. Do not drive onto the field.
Porta-potties and a dumpster will be on site. The event director will be hosting a movie night for campers on Friday night. If you know some of the lines from "Young Frankenstein" you will be in good company.

There are two special events planned for the weekend of Midwest Power this year.

Gizmo duration: Special offer by Wildman Rocketry! Fly a Performance rocketry Gizmo using the supplied 54mm single grain "I" motor. Longest flight duration from liftoff to touchdown wins. Call or email the Wildman to get in on the contest now. The rocket, casing, and reload are a special offer for $145.00 at http://www.wildmanrocketry.com/.

4"/3" drag race: Yep, only at Midwest Power. Any and all 4" diameter rockets loaded with any 3" diameter motor with a casing length no longer than 42". All at once, certain to entertain. This race will be held on Friday, research day.

Registration for the event and an online volunteer sign up form are now operational. Please volunteer to take a shift at range duty. Paypal or mail in your registration to the Midwest Power treasurer.

The new website address for this and all future Midwest Power events is http://www.midwestpowerhpr.com/.

Hope to see you there,

Scott Goebel,
MWP6 event director

Sounds like another fun launch at Midwest Power. I'll have the Renee' Rocket ready for the 4"/3" drag race. I figure an AMW M2500 or a M3000 out to get it going pretty well.

Sorry fires are out. A grill would be ok. Remember this is farm
country and they let us use the fields. Your basically parking off
the road in the grass next to the fields. Also it tends to be very
dry sometimes that time of year and ground fires are easy to start.
The fire department had to be called at least once in the past due
to sparky motors setting the field stubble on fire.

I've seen a few small fires from sparky's this past 12 months due to drought. I keep wondering if it would help if people flying them doused the area around the pads with water just before flight.
