 Rogers Aeroscience is pleased to announce that there have been 500 downloads of the RASAero aerodynamic analysis and flight simulation free software from the www.rasaero.com web site in just 3 days after its release. The first 400 downloads occurred in the first 2 days after its release. By offering this software for free the intent was to get as wide a distribution as possible of the software and its aerodynamic analysis methods throughout the model, high power, and Tripoli Research communities. With this overwhelming response in just 3 days, it looks like we succeeded.
We're always looking for flight data to compare our altitude predictions against to help further refine our aerodynamic predictions and improve the accuracy of our flight simulations. Flight data from rockets flown with barometric altimeters, GPS altimeters, accelerometer-based data for Mach number; are all actively being sought by the RASAero authors. Note; it is very important for this altitude data that the rocket have been weighed prior to launch for an accurate liftoff weight. Entering the rocket data into the software, and saving it as a RASAero ALX1 file, will be much appreciated. Add the barometric altitude or GPS altitude under the Comments input screen, and send us the rocket ALX1 file. The rocket data will become part of our altitude prediction accuracy study which we'll be publishing. I'm one of those who have downloaded RASAero, though I have yet to try it out. Please consider porting to Linux, or releasing the source to allow someone else to port it to Linux.

This was already covered in another thread. They do not have plans for either a Linux version or release of the source. If somone wanted to approach them with an NDA and create a binary version for Linux with their permission that idea has not yet been floated that I am aware of. |

I down loaded it and installed it with no problems. When I designed my own rocket, I could save the rocket but I could not view it or get it to sim flights.
Emailed the Rodgers Aeroscience on the 16th, had an answer on the 17th and had it fixed n the 18th. Nice customer service. 
The problem you ask.
If the fin can dimension is set to the same dia. as the body tube it causes a fault.  The fin can dia. needs to be a little larger than the max body tube dia. They said they will fix that in the next release.  |

It appears to be a nice, easy to use, accurate simulator. Kudos for making such a quality product, and even more for doing it for free.

It also used to fault when initial thrust was lower than liftoff weight. I personally fixed that. Oh, and added staging and clusters. The "Jerry" version.
