WORLD WIDE WEB — The National Association of Rocketry's program to celebrate the NAR's 50th anniversary, the "Fly 50,000 for our 50th" program, has been extended.  Originally to end at NARAM-50, the program has proved so popular with the kids who get flight certificates, NAR has extended the event.

NAR President Trip Barber announced the extension on the NAR website, where he called attention to the NAR's 50th birthday, asking participants to help them celebrate by taking an afternoon to do something you enjoy. "Fly some rockets!" Barber stated, asking people to reach out to kids and help commemorate the organization's golden anniversary.

"We need you to celebrate with us by sharing the fun and excitement of a rocket launch with the world's young people," Barber's communication stated. "What could be simpler and more fun than flying rockets with kids?"

NAR has a data collection form set up to make it easy to submit your flight information available at http://www.nar.org/pdf/50Kkids.pdf. They've even created a sample award certificate to give to the children who make a flight, to use as is or as a guide to create your own version identifying your club or other sponsor.  Once you have flight data to submit, you can submit it at http://www.nar.org/fly50K.html.

"I hope you can help us reach this important goal, and can guarantee it'll be fun for you and the kids," Barber added. "There is no better way to celebrate our past than by helping to build our future!"
