LAKE HAVASU CITY, Arizona USA — Contrail Rockets has begun offering EX/Research fliers a new line of hardware for use with AP and hybrid motors. The new line includes 29mm, 38mm, 54mm, 75mm and 98mm Hardware. All hardware is custom made for the flier and is made with the same high quality materials used in Contrail Rockets motors.
What makes the custom hardware unique is the ability for users to select the exact length of their hardware they want. Rather than purchasing hardware as an "Off The Shelf" product, fliers can select the custom length of their cases, and the throat diameter on their nozzles. Motor cases are priced on per-inch basis, and also include a "setup charge" which includes machining the snap ring grooves, and external thrust ring groove on the case. For information on the new products, you can visit: http://www.contrailrockets.com/CustomEX.htm For questions please e-mail:

Not sure what they mean by this .. "sand, polish and ready hardware for flyer"..It doesn't appear that they are anodized. I also don't see specs for ID. I wonder which liner and casting tube sets fit it. Or if they sell them.

Looks like the nozzle prices are the same as Loki Research. Also it would be helpful for those people that are new to offer a package that had a nozzle, closure, nozzle washer, thrust ring and snap rings all included. The setup charge is different, I would have said the first inch is $XX.XX with all inches after that at the per inch price. That way you don't have 52 million things in your cart. Also - how does someone know how much room your nozzle, closure, end margins and snap rings take up? If someone is designing for 28" of propellant in a 75mm case, how long does the case really need to be? That would also be helpful, maybe standard drawings. I also don't see o-rings or what size they are. You need those to fly motors. Tony mentioned a good point - what sizes are the cases - wall thickness and OD/ID. That is important for someone designing a motor. Also can you order the nozzles by speeds? Fast? Extra Fast? Scary Fast? Aluminum Firecracker Fast?

JD,
There was an error on the formatting when I put it on the Website. The Prices for the 54's and 75's got mixed up with the 98mm Motors. I would like to know if you consider it expensive what are you comparing it against? If you price it out I am pretty sure it is lower cost than almost all other hardware out there and it is made to order...
They should be as follows:
54mm Setup = 25.00
54mm Per Inch = 2.00
75mm Setup = 35.00
75mm Per Inch = 3.00
Also, Shipping is as follows:
From(USD) To(USD) Rate(USD)
0.01 to 39.99 = 4.85
40.00 to 79.99 = 8.00
80.00 to 119.99 = 12.00
120.00 to 199.99 = 15.00
200.00 and up = 18.00
I will try and get the website updated before leaving for Balls.

Tony,
All Hardware is anodized as long as it is less than 4 feet long. I will make note on the website with the other updates about anodizing etc.
Also, the Wall Thickness or ID for the cases is as follows:
29mm Wall Thickness = .058"
38mm Wall Thickness = .083"
54mm Wall Thickness = .095"
75mm ID = 2.75"
98mm ID = 3.5"
They will fit all standard liners. The 29-54mm Tube is Drawn Seamless tube made to size.
The 75mm and 98mm is machined on the OD.
We may offer liners on the larger hardware, but not on the smaller stuff at this time. It is commonly available at very low prices from others.

Edward,
There will soon be packages for hardware that will include a full motor (nozzle, bulkhead, snap and O-rings, etc. in one price) I just haven’t had the time to fine tune the pages just yet.
I will have the specifics on the hardware updated soon, along with pictures and specs for those interested. Don't expect a ton on the site as this is done more to set a standard price to custom hardware which we have made for others in the past rather than doing each one as a "as quoted" basis.
As for O-rings, the 29mm Uses a 3/32 O-ring
All others use a 1/8 Inch O-ring. Dash Numbers are available from there
Nozzles can be ordered by Throat Diameter as noted on the website.
Thanks
Tom

That's much better. At $40.00 setup charge your 54mm come out to more than AMW's commercial hardware.

Todd,
Sorry about the delay, forgot about this thread and have been busy the past few weeks with other work.
To Answer your question:
29/38/54/75/98/152
12'/12'/12'/3'/3'/12'
Once we order more metal (around the end of the year) all hardware will have a 12 foot max length. At this time everything we have in 75mm and 98mm is cut to 3' or 28" for other contrail product in those sizes.
Thanks
Tom
