After a few recent reports from users, we have investigated, identified and corrected an early main deployment issue for flights that exceed 10K AGL. If you fly below 10K AGL, the altimeter deploys the main at the correct preset AGL elevation. This code patch is a critical update for anyone planning on flying above or close to 10K AGL, and is optional for those that fly below 10K AGL. This patch applies to the following SN's (1000 thru 1567) and includes the PML Co-Pilot v2.0.

Well, this would explain why my recent flight at LDRS to over 18,000 ft resulted in a main deploy only 10 sec after apogee as witnessed by 2 people watching through binoculars. I was lucky as the rocket was recovered 2mi. away.
Same thing happened at the Winternationals on a flight to 12,000, and was recovered 3.7 mi away.
I was beginning to doubt my technique. Hats off to Missle works for announcing this glitch and fixing the problem.
What claim (if any) would a person have if they lost their rocket due to early deployment and drift? Would Jim stand behind that loss? I would not think so - since how you would prove the use of a product that is lost would be complicated but maybe on a well documented L3 flight?
I ask - because we seem to have different expectations of our vendors depending on what component they sell.
Thanks Jim for fixing the problem. All companies have problems from time to time but not all take responsibility to solve the problem. I'm a very happy customer and your service has always been first class. I'll be sending in my alt after our next launch.
I'm glad this came out early enough, i'm using three of them at MWP the end of this month and all three of them fall into the recalled SN's. The first time I used one was last spring and I got an early deployment from the main at 7300feet. I thought it was something I did wrong.
Well, that explains it. It happened to me at BALLS with a flight to 12.6K. Not sure how early the main came out, but it was very close to apogee. I sent my altimeters back to Jim for inspection before this announcement came out.

Say it ain't so Jim!
When will you be in the O'burg neck o' the woods again?

I was at Oct. launch, and will be at Nov's,..... unless I decide to take a walk on the wild side, and head up to Red Glare.
