ImageWORLD WIDE WEB — Rocket Store is currently putting together a new Motor Distribution Program (MDP) and needs the help of fellow UK fliers in formulating the best package possible. The new MDP will take advantage of their soon to be announced AP Shipping service, which will allow them to send all AP motors via UK-based TNT Express at a current forecasted price of £29.95.

This is a unique service as far as Rocket Store knows and they are the only rocketry company granted access by TNT to send AP motors, pyrodex and black powder legally by courier.

The purpose of the MDP will be to cut the cost of shipping per rocketeer and also to boost UK club attendance by giving a small discount and new feature. So here is how they imagine it working:

  1. The Rocket Store website will allow club signups under the new MDP program. A club would sign up, listing the club's details and a central contact. The contact doesn't need to be anyone on the club committee, but would have a full explosives license and RCA and would take on the responsibility of accepting the motors on behalf of that club.
  2. Over the month prior to a launch, rocketeers will be able to select motors from the Rocket Store website and then make payment as normal, however they will be given the option to collect the motors at a club launch. When choosing club collection, the member will automatically receive a 5% discount.
  3. One week before the club launch, a full list of all items ordered for that event will be sent to the club representative for approval. The representative will pay the cost of the TNT shipment to Rocket Store and they then ship the motors together with a list of who ordered what items that be sent to the club so they may recover the shipping fees proportional to member's orders.

Rocket Store believes the above MDP will mainly benefit clubs that currently don't have a regular vendor and will hopefully encourage rocketeers to attend club launches due to the much-reduced cost of shipping and discount. Clubs partaking in this program will be able to advertise they are a member of the Rocket Store MDP and motor pickup is available.

They are looking for feedback before putting this into practice. They want to get it all set up and ready to go for January 1, 2009, however they are able to send AP motors during the last part of the year once their TNT account details are finalized. If you have any feedback or want to add ideas to the program, please let us them at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it .

Rocket Store hopes this new program will help with the growth of rocketry in the UK.
