ImageWORLD WIDE WEB — Greg Dietlein has stepped down as the Chairman of the Canadian Association of Rocketry, and the organization will soon announce a special election to fill the permanent role. Dietlein was regarded as a positive influence on the organization over the past several years he served.

CAR Vice Chairman Tom Raithby has temporarily assumed the role of interim Chairman, making the announcement yesterday to the CAR membership about Dietlein's departure.

"Greg has served CAR for a little over two years and he has brought lots of change to [the organization]," Raithby said in his announcement. "Greg’s gregarious nature and the obvious joy he takes in speaking to rocketry enthusiasts is always welcome."

Raithby, on behalf of himself and the CAR Board of Directors, offered a sincere thank you to Dietlein for his service, stating what a pleasure it had been to work along side of him.

Within the CAR, the Chairman’s role is an elected position, while and the Vice Chairman and Secretary Treasurer serve at the Chairman’s appointment. Raithby stated that the Board of Directors, current Secretary/Treasurer Tim Rempel and he felt it appropriate to hold a special election, permit members to consider running for executive positions.

The new Chairman selected in the special election will serve the remainder of the current term, which will expire in December of 2010.
