HOLLSOPPLE, Pennsylvania USA — K and S Rockets is now making custom parachutes for mid and high power rockets. "Our chutes are made of 1.5 oz ripstop nylon and are sewn with T-70 nylon thread," said owner Scott Kissinger. "All seams are double stitched for extra strength and all edges are hemmed so there is no fraying."

All parachutes are designed with four shroud cords for less chances of tangling, made of 550 Mil Spec Paracord or 1500# tubular nylon webbing. K and S is making parachutes for rockets weighting as little as .8 pounds all the way up to 50+ pounds.  All parachutes are made to order. Colors are limited.

K and S is also updating their web site, so if you stop by and some pages look different from others this is the reason. They will be updating things over the next week, incorporating a new company logo into the site theme, plus adding new things to the site. "Please be patient while we make these updates and if you find something that is not working please let me know," Kissinger added.

For high quality rip-stop nylon HPR chutes his prices are not out of line with others in the industry. If you want to fly high power - especially the heavier rockets - be prepared to spend some cash on quality recovery gear...it makes a BIG difference.

Thank you Mark. I have been thinking how to reply to the comment without upsetting anyone. Quality ripstop is not cheap plus all the other items needed add up fast, not including all the time to cut everything and sew it up. Believe me I am not going to become a millionare anytime soon selling chutes. I try to keep the prices reasonable and give a quality product.

You could always use plastic garbage bags & go the Estes route......

They're still cheaper than RM or b2.

Got one the other day off the Auctions page. Very reasonably priced for the size but I haven't had a chance to use it yet -probably at the March launch for NCR -but the quality workmanship is excellant and shipping was quick. I'll follow up after I get a chance to fly it.

My initial impression of seeing them in the auctions here was that they were very nice looking parachutes at more than reasonable prices. When you advertise that your work is all custom run, no matter where you start the initial pricing, there will always be someone who isn't happy.

Scott - do you have any packing information on the various chute sizes (something similar to Skyangle)? Just curious. Thanks.

Glen,
I am working on that info and hope to have it the next couple of days. I can say this, I packed a KSR-12 into a 4" X 24" deployment bag and it only filled the bag halfway.

I wont be offended... sorry if I offended you. Lots of people get pushed out of the hobby by high prices, I am one of them. Just so everyone knows where I am coming from.
