ImageThe count down continues to tick away on Steve Eves world record Saturn V launch. On Saturday, 3-21-09, the 36 tall launch tower was erected into place. With the help of a 60 ton hydraulic crane provided by A-Crane Service the tower was set in place.

In addition to the tower being raised, the electronics have been flight tested and configured. The motors are ready to send the rocket skyward and the parachutes are ready to bring the Saturn V safely back to earth.

Special thanks go out to the group of dedicated MDRA rocketeers and vendors that are assisting in the process to make Steve's dream a reality.

The launch is scheduled for noon on April 25, 2009 at Higgs Farm in Price, Maryland. This will be a single rocket launch with all attention focused on making this a safe and successful launch. The launch of the Saturn V will follow Red Glare VI at Higgs Farm scheduled for April 17, 18 and 19, 2009.

There is still time to support the effort.  Simply go to www.rocketsmagazine.com and click on the Saturn V logo. Corporate and group sponsorships are still available, as is purchase of Saturn V memorabilia. A project like the Saturn V comes around only once in a lifetime, as does the opportunity to say, "I helped make it fly." Saturn V T-shirts are available for immediate delivery, and mission patches, which will be flown on board the rocket and sent to the sponsor after the flight, will help support the project.

Photos of the day's activities can be found at http://www.rocketsmagazine.com/saturn-v-project/gallery/2009-03-21/. Information about Red Glare VI can be found at www.mdrocketry.org.

Nice tower. How are they going to load the rocket on the rail? I suspect the crane will have to do it?
