Start to finish coverage of the BALLS 18 launch in the Black Rock Desert will leave the grit and taste of playa dust in your teeth. You'll experience the struggles of some of rocketry's best in the harsh environment of the high Nevada desert in late fall. Dave Leininger tells us about BALLS 18 from his personal perspective and that of his club, Minnesota's Upper Midwest Experimental Rocketry Group (UMERG). Alan Whitmore provides some of his PhD insight into research motor building. This issue features the final chapter of copper compounds as burn rate catalysts along with yet another installment of Wes Oleszewiski's series on model rocket flying techniques. This issue will feature on-board video camera tricks of the trade. Sadly, we offer the readers some final thoughts on two of rocketry's biggest names and most generous fliers. The 2010 flying season will be a different place without having former Tripoli Board of Directors member Erik Gates and former Tripoli Michigan Team One prefect Ken Zeuner prepping their rockets and giving up their flying time to help others. After four years on the road, ROCKETS Magazine continues to bring our readers the biggest and the best the hobby has to offer. We are looking forward to our fifth year and beyond. The people and the projects they fly keep us coming back for more. Fly high, fly safe and we'll see you at the launch. Website: http://www.rocketsmagazine.com/ |
