Tuesday, March 09, 2010

ImageGAITHERSBURG, Maryland USA — ROCKETS Magazine has been traveling across the country to the biggest and the best rocket launches. In four years ROCKETS Magazine has produced more than 30 DVD's, which exhibit more white knuckle, fast action excitement than anyone could stand to watch.

This latest DVD from ROCKETS Magazine picks up where "Cool and Really Cool Flights" stops: Pulling from 16 titles from "Three Oaks" to "BALLS 18", 200 video clips including the never before seen annual MDRA Xmas tree launch. This is the second volume in a ROCKETS Magazine series called "Cool and Really Cool Flights".

Sit back, turn up the volume and watch in amazement with what your fellow rocketeers have come up with. You'll cheer when you see how well the project worked. You'll groan out loud when they fail. You'll cringe as you anticipate the outcome. Will it be a perfect chute recovery or a ground capture? Will the project be displayed in a museum after the flight or will it be reduced back to kit form and taken home in trash bags?

Over six hour of video action on this 4 DVD set. All in 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound.

I have never purchased a DVD in my life--there is a reason that God invented VHS. However, due to the fact that VHS recorders now include DVD players--I have one. In view of the fact that this looks like a great video and it will help one of the few remaining rocket magazines--I am purchasing it--so there. I might even subscribe to Rockets magazine--it is a good magazine. I just spent the last of my rocketry budget on a 38/1320 case and J510 reloads--but what the heck--maybe I can sneak one more rocketry item past my wife. Six hours--wow!

Good point, Madsen. Supporting the magazine is supporting the hobby. I'll have to order this DVD myself since the trees are in it.

I am ordering this. The first one is awesome and I still pull it out to watch it once in a while.

My big concern is that it says "Three Oaks" as one of the launches they've been to. They've only been to Three Oaks once AFAIK so I hope my "REALLY COOL" failed L1 flight didn't exactly...ah...make it in there for all the world to see.

Better get use to buying DVD's! The last stand-alone VHS machine was discontinued in November 2008! While DVD/VHS combo units are still available, it's uncertain how much longer they will be manufactured.

I got mine on SATURDAY. I can't believe it either. I watched the entire 6 hours over the weekend. Personally, I love it. A great investment, as I predicted. There is a fair amount of footage from Steve Eve's 1/10th scale Saturn V which was cool, but not REALLY cool. Just putting it out there that I will treasure it in my collection.

Yep, had mine for a few days as well and saw a lot of neat flights. Even saw that I had a contribution to the 'Really Cool' flights. Lets hope that is the only one for a while.
