EL SOBRANTE, California USA — The upstanding citizens at Suborbital Flying Machines have four low power kits ready for the rocketry public. They fly on 18 and 24 mm motors and all of them feature plywood centering rings and high strength motor mounts designed with Aerotech reloadable casings in mind.
Correctly sized shock cords and very tough 1mil plastic chutes with HunkyDuty shroud lines also come standard. Our kits have flown at LUNAR, SARG, ROC, Bay Waterfront and Tripoli Central CA (Fresno) launches and were initally flight tested at our secret test facility somewhere in El Sobrante, CA.
The smallest member of our fleet is the easy to build Imp which flies on good ole Estes motors. Then comes the Tube which has been described by the Fresno RSOs as a 'ram jet', but we just say it's not another hollow promise. The Tube loves D13s but does great on a C6-5. The Aries is the tallest craft in our line up and has an hour-glass figure and forward swept fns. This pup flies on 24 mm motors; our favorite is either E11 or E18 depending on range size. Lastly we offer the KAAP724, a military style flyer, that is built to handle high thrust 24 mm Fs, like F24 and F39 but flies well on a D12-5 if you must restrict your altitude.
All kit instructions are downloadable in PDF format (self-extracting ZIP) along with generic parachute and motor mount instructions. We need to point out that our engine hooks are NOT compatible with Estes hooks so experienced builders must at least read the motor mount intructions before cranking out the kit.
Check out our web site for pictures and technical specs, http://www.suborbital.com. The kits are available from Discount Rocketry or directly through us. Discount Rocketry offers good general pricing and we offer good package deals. And remember, we are the only manufacturer who dares to guarantee our products to be fat free and dolphin safe! |
