In a recent communication from Tripoli Motor Testing, TMT Chairperson Sue McMurray welcomed Robert Ellis of Ellis Mountain Rocket Works as the first officially recognized new legal high power rocket motor manufacturer in years. Ellis Mountain's ATF, DOT and other pertinent documents have all been reviewed by TMT and found to be in perfect order.

Ellis Mountain's "Thor's Hammer" propellant-based motors are officially 'in process' of TMT testing and certification, and are considered available for demonstration at regular Tripoli launches with the launch director and prefect's permission.

McMurray suggested to Mr. Ellis that he provide static firings as a demonstration to give flyers an opportunity to witness his motors throughout their entire burn cycle. A natural for this is the Ellis Mountain 76mm L360, a "Thor's Hammer" motor with 3071Ns of total impulse with a burntime of 8.5 seconds. Ellis Mountain also has a 76mm M class motor with a similarly long burntime.

Based in Jacksonville, TX, Ellis Mountain Rocket Works carries a standard range of 38mm motors from an I88 to a J264 and 76mm motors from an L360 to M1000. Custom motors in 38mm to 152mm sizes are available on special order. It is possible that Ellis Mountain may do a manufacturer's demo at Sooner Boomer this coming weekend, 27-28 June 1998.

Initially expected to complete certification in September of this year, TMT has moved up the expected testing dates to possibly have these motors certified by LDRS. This is due to failure of other manufacturers to produce necessary documentation of their legal standing to TMT which necessitated putting their certifications aside until the documentation was available.
